What is the child care food program?

The Child Care Food Program is a USDA program that reimburses the child care provider for feeding nutritious meals to the children in their care. Any Nebraska licensed or licensed exempt (DHHS) home is eligible to participate.

Who is Child Nutrition Services?

Child Nutrition Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing you, the Child Care Provider, with the training resources and support necessary to feed nutritious meals to children in your care.

How do I get started?

Call Child Nutrition Services as 1-800-927-7122

Brooke, April or Carrie the staff at CNS, will explain the program and set up a convenient meeting at your home.

CNS will provide you with our Provider’s Notebook and all the necessary tools to get you started. (including a free child care record keeping calendar and a free cookbook!)

Each month you mail, fax, email or submit your claims online to CNS.

Each month you receive payments for meals served.

Child Nutrition Services is a sponsor for the Child Care Food Program in SE Nebraska. The Child Care Food Program is our only program so that we can devote 100% of our time and efforts into helping you provide quality care for the children in your home.


The Child Care Food Program is a federal program administered by USDA through the Nebraska Department of Education. The Child Care Food Program reimburses child care providers for the nutritious meals served to the children in their care. In doing so, the program allows you to buy higher-quality food while charging competitive rates. The Program means better nutrition for healthy bodies and growing minds.


The reimbursement rates are the same for all Child Care Food Programs throughout Nebraska.


Child Nutrition Services of SE Nebraska is dedicated to educating family child care providers on the importance of providing nutritious meals and snacks to the children in their care.
