Batty for Bats! Workshop at Prairie Pines, Lincoln INPERSON
Gear up for haunted happenings with educational activities focused on bats! These underappreciated forest friends provide educators an outstanding opportunity to connect scary and science in the fall season. During this workshop – we will learn about Nebraska’s native bats, go on a sunset hike to view them (from a distance), and explore educational activities that you can use with your students to teach them about these important creatures during spooky season! This workshop is in person will take place at Prairie Pines located just outside of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Teach Outside! FREE Monthly Virtual Workshop Series: Fall in Love with Trees Workshop ONLINE
Join NFS and affiliated facilitators on the Third Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm to learn about how to better connect your students to the outdoors this school year. Each month will feature different topics that highlight various resources and activities you can use to promote environmental and STEAM education in your educational setting. Network with other passionate educators while gaining new teaching strategies for connecting youth in your life to the outdoors. This workshop series is focused on formal teachers, but is also great for afterschool educators, early childhood teachers, nonformal educators, and everything in-between.
In October, learn about forest-focused activities from Project Learning Tree. Try out an activity focused on falling leaves and their changing colors; learn about programs available to you and your students from the Nebraska Forest Service and Nebraska Statewide Arboretum.

Outdoor Classrooms Virtual Workshop ONLINE
Our *very* poplar, pun intended, Outdoor Classroom workshop is back and for educators who work with students of any age or grade level. This workshop is occurring October 13th from 6:30-8:30 PM CST online via Zoom and will help participants learn how to design and utilize an outdoor classroom. Participants will receive native plant recommendations, learn best practices for teaching outdoors, and gain access to an award-winning K-8 PLT curricula Guide ~ all in time for fall fun!
